And this illness has me really worried since it could knock me for most of the Fall. It will take a month or longer for my lungs to clear out. I stupidly ran yesterday morning and couldn't run faster than an 8:38 avg pace. Not enough O2. Took John on a hike after. Only .6 up to a shelter and I could barely make it. Totally out of breath. This is not good at all. I ended up on the couch for 5 hours after that. My resting pulse is in the high 70s when it's normally in the high 40s. So obviously my body is fighting something off. The last time I had a virus like this I couldn't run for 2 weeks. Other than going to work, I slept. Couldn't eat and lost 10 pounds. I didn't get my full running strength back for 3 months. Seriously. It was the strangest illness ever. Major headache and chest congestion. Never had a fever with that, though. No body aches. I had been in a crazy fog that entire time. Almost like a bubble, like looking out at the world from inside a closed up house. I literally thought I might be dying. Only time in 6 years at this job that I called in sick. And still only for one shift.
My body ended up shedding out that virus through my sweat believe it or not. One night, I woke up in a pool of sweat. And I mean drenched. The bedding was soaked as well as my clothes, hair, everything. But all of a sudden I wasn't sick anymore. It was like waking up from a 3 week sleep. It took 3 weeks for my body to shed that and took me 3 months to get back in shape. So far, this doesn't seem as bad, but any chest cold combined with running is bad. Ugh.
So anyway, I felt like I should write some update since it's been weeks now. Things had been good prior to this. I've run 4 races since Ragged, but none were big, serious races. Should be able to lump them into one catch up post.
Crossing my fingers I can still toe the line at what is supposed to be my 7th Millen Mile Friday night, but it's not looking good. If I do make it, it won't be pretty, that's for sure. Out of my control at this point, though.

Ugh I'm sorry. Hope this goes away soon! Rest up and heal up.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Really rested all day today. Might try an easy 3 miles in the morning before my next shift.
